Moving To France........
During the last three to four years many British families have bought homes in France which has increased the numbers that have settled over previous years. Why are so many choosing to live in France? Simply because they can! Our parents were not so affluent as we are today and although they had holidays in Spain and similar countries not so many moved to non-english speaking countries. But the boom in cheap air flights and the TV churning out programmes on low cost property and the 'foreign dream' has appealed to large numbers who have subsequently moved or purchased holidays homes. Is it such a surprise then, that when we arrive at our chosen distination we find that France is a huge country and distances are so much greater than in the United Kingdom. For many Christians this can come as a shock particulary when they realise they do not have a church nearby or they cannot get fellowship without driving long distances. Well why didn't they check this out first you say? A fair question and in our case we looked and prayed about it but still didn't quite appreciate how the distance would affect our Church life. Non-Christians may have chosen a destination primarily on the house of choice, the facilities and the area. When they realise there is something missing in their lives and they start to search for a church it's often too far away for attending regular services. The reality is that even if your department does have a suitable church within reach you may still have to organise additional fellowship in your area yourself. Rick Warren in his book the 'Purpose Driven Life' makes the point that churches are for worship and home groups are for fellowship. The purpose of this web site is to support those who decide to start their own home group or house church.
